  • Sorry for interrupting...
  • From the other side of the door.
  • A beautiful little yellow warbler.
  • We were trailing this leopard on its dik dik hunt for about half an hour. It paid no heed at all to the jeep, although I suspect the jeep may have impacted its success.
  • Notice the mm-mm lizard. The kestrel chowed down its head before discarding the rest of the carcass.

  • It took five people a good five minutes searching the two metre span of fan coral to find this little fellow. He's facing away from the camera - they are well known for being camera shy - and his tail is wrapped around a branch of the coral. This is a Hippocampus bargibanti (pygmy seahorse), about five millimetres tall, quite rare, and, IMHO, quite beautiful.
  • Pterois volitans (common lionfish), posing.
  • Spawning Synchiropus splendidus (mandarinfish). Every day, they come out just before dusk in the same place. The male and several females play a game of hide-and-seek peeking at each other round the rocks until the light starts to completely fall off. Then they start to come together, and as they perform, they shiver and float upwards. However, they won't do it if a light is shining on them, so one has to wait until they start the act, then swing the camera focus light across, focus, and get a picture all quite quickly. Not as simple as it might sound!
  • This Pygmy Seahorse was less than 1cm tall and quite camera shy so getting a decent picture was quite challenging, especially with the NDL rapidly ticking away at 29m.
  • Bubble Coral Shrimp.

  • A Thysanozoon nigropapillosum (gold speckled flatworm) taking some interest in my camera.
  • It's a crab. A beatiful crab. But I've no idea what species. This fellow was about 50-60cm across.
  • Gustav Doré's The Enigma, 1871
  • Wonderful flyers enjoying the updrafts at the cliff's edge.
  • As a female flies overhead, the male throws back his head, bounces his gular pouch, extends and lightly flaps his wings, and makes a kind of creaking noise that is amplified by the pouch. Quite a display!
  • The beautiful colours of the sally lightfoot crab. They were everywhere, and make up a significant portion of many of the resident species' diet. Outside of the Galapagos, they are enjoyed on many a dining table as well.
  • Just as we were arriving at our final stop, Cerro Dragon, the dolphins came close enough for a decent photo opportunity.
  • A far flung gaze.
  • By any other name.
  • It's only the first move and already I'm confused...
  • Fun with Daddy's hat.
  • Hanging out the washing, Venetian style.
  • Another beautiful lady enjoying making a break for freedom.
  • Enjoying the moment.
  • Relaxing little legs.
  • Enjoying the fresh air.
  • Family.
  • And Daniel enjoying the tractor.
  • Rocca Maggiore, the citadel of Assisi.
  • We stayed at the lovely Carolina Hotel.
  • A couple of chocolate bars, a few energy drinks, and a hearty meal brought the smile back to my face, but the strength in my legs was gone for good.
  • York university lake in winter. We kept off.
  • Snugly wrapped and rosy cheeked.
  • The majestic York Minster climbing into the clouds.
  • My new sunglasses, the waiting for delivery of which very nearly cost me my flight out of Singapore.
  • Looking back on the Sydney Opera House from the bridge. It was midnight in mid-winter, and I was wearing a short-sleeved shirt. Luckily, we had had a couple of drinks by this stage or I might have felt a little chilly...
  • Michelle looking as gorgeous as ever.
  • How's that for sashimi?
  • Now there is a good view.
  • Keep fingers clear.
  • Chiang Kai-shek Memorial.
  • Taipei 101 at night.
  • The happy couple.
  • 3 out of 5 ain't bad.
  • A pair of beautiful ladies.
