  • National Palace Museum - I spent four long hours here, but it was very interesting.
  • Longshan Temple. Mesmerising chanting.
  • The imposing Chiang Kai-shek memorial.
  • Chiang Kai-shek himself [1887-1975]. Well celebrated (in Taiwan) president of the Republic of China. Exiled to Taipei from 1950 until 1975 whilst claiming sovereignty over all of China, which was recognised by the UN until 1971 when the People's Republic of China won out.
  • Chiang Kai-shek Memorial.
  • Chiang Kai-shek was very proud of his two Lincolns, which are on display in the memorial museum.
  • Taipei 101, the tallest building in the world, reaching into the clouds.
  • Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, showing quite how hard the rain was falling.

  • Barclays Capital occupy part of a floor in the the Cathay Xin-Yi Trading Building.
  • This huge 5-tonne steel ball helps dampen the effects of the wind on Taipei 101. There are several of these in this tower, but this is the only one in the world on display to the public.
